My Background

Psychotherapy was a career change I made in my mid-30’s, prior to which I worked as a musician in Boston, Massachusetts. I enjoyed many aspects of being a musician, but by far the most meaningful were the connections I made with other people. Meandering and unplanned heart-to-heart conversations in transit to gigs or after a rehearsal. So when the time came to change careers, counseling was an obvious choice.

I attended graduate school at William James College in Newton, Massachusetts and earned my master’s degree in counseling psychology in 2017. My field work consisted of in-home individual therapy, inpatient group therapy, and college counseling. After graduating, I moved to Baltimore and became licensed in the state of Maryland. I worked as an addictions therapist and associate program director for several years at Resource Connect, a substance abuse intensive outpatient program, where I led IOP groups and provided individual case management for clients. I transitioned to being an affiliate therapist for the parent company of that program before eventually starting my own private practice.

Alongside my work as a therapist, from 2017 to 2024 I was a faculty member for The Stanley H. King Institute, which offers training for independent school educators on listening skills and strengthening their relationships with students.
